Augmentation mastopexy

What is augmentation mastopexy?

Also known as a breast lift, it is a cosmetic surgery procedure to correct sagging and lift the breasts.

Who is this indicated for?

It is recommended for women who are bothered by sagging and drooping breasts but do not necessarily want to change the volume. Mastopexy can be performed with or without breast implants.

How is augmentation mastopexy performed?

Before the procedure, blood tests, mammography and breast ultrasound should be performed to ensure that the patient is suitable.

In the 30 days leading up to the procedure, the patient should refrain from smoking any kind of cigarettes. In the two weeks prior, the use of anti-inflammatory drugs, rheumatism medications, and metabolism accelerators should be avoided. The consumption of alcoholic beverages should be avoided the day before. The patient should fast for 8 hours before surgery.

Mastopexy is performed under general anesthesia and typically lasts around 2 to 3 hours.

The patient should stay in the hospital for a period of 12 to 24 hours.

This surgery can leave scars, but techniques are used to make them as hidden as possible. After approximately one year, it is possible to see the final shape of the scar.
The result of mastopexy can already be seen immediately but it takes shape in a few months with a final result in 1 year.
After 24 hours after the procedure, avoiding moving your arms.
The patient must wear a surgical bra for a month, avoid moving her arms (even to drive) for 30 days, avoid heavy physical exercises for 2 months (such as sports and bodybuilding), sleep only on her back for 15 days and take painkillers. Follow all of your surgeon’s recommendations.

It is not mandatory to use a breast implant in this surgery. It can be performed with or without breast implants.

Ideally, healthy foods should be consumed, especially during this period, avoiding heavy, greasy and high-sugar foods, as these foods can disrupt the recovery process.
