Blepharoplasty (upper and lower eyelid surgery)

What is blepharoplasty?

Also known as eyelid surgery, it is a procedure that aims to improve the appearance of the upper and lower eyelids.

who is this indicated for?

Upper blepharoplasty is indicated for people who have excess skin and fat bags on the eyelids, which fall on the eyelashes and can cause a feeling of heaviness and even hinder vision, or for purely aesthetic reasons.

Lower blepharoplasty is indicated for cases with excess skin in the lower region and also fat pockets, resulting in a tired and aged face.

How is blepharoplasty performed?

It is necessary for the patient to undergo a prior evaluation, which includes a complete ophthalmological analysis to ensure that the surgery does not pose any risk to the patient.

Blepharoplasty is performed under local anesthesia and sedation. It lasts about half an hour at the top and 1 hour at the bottom. An incision is made in the palpebral crease to remove excess orbital skin and fat.

The patient can go home the same day.

Benefits of the procedure

The benefits of blepharoplasty are both functional, allowing the patient to see better, and aesthetic, reducing aging marks (sagging skin) and the appearance of tiredness.
